Virginia Tech’s iconic mascot, the HokieBird, is one of the final mascots left in the Capital One Bowl Mascot Challenge.
But the Hokie Nation will need a major fourth-quarter rally to keep their hopes alive in the annual competition.
As of Tuesday, the HokieBird is trailing Rocky the Bull from South Florida, 83% to 17%.
The two mascots are going head-to-head for a shot in the final match-up of the online competition, which will pen them against either Sparty from Michigan State or Raider Red from Texas Tech University.
Bragging rights aren’t the only thing up for grabs. The winning school will also be awarded a $20,000 scholarship toward its mascot program.
Voting closes this Sunday at midnight and there are several ways to support the HokieBird.
1. You can tweet or post a message to Facebook describing the HokieBird’s playoff superstition to earn 25 points for the mascot using the hashtag #CapitalOneHokie.
2. You can film or photograph yourself wearing a VT-inspired playoff beard and upload your entry to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #CapitalOneHokie to earn 100 points for the HokieBird.
